Errors And Troubleshooting
When something goes wrong in C2, start with the simplest explanation first. Most issues come from one of four places: access, settings, missing information, or a feature that is not available in your community.
Common Problems And What They Usually Mean
I Can Open The Page, But I Cannot Save
This usually means you can look at the page, but you do not have enough access to change it.
What to check:
- Are you signed in with the correct staff profile?
- Does your role include the task you are trying to do?
- Are you trying to edit a draft item instead of a published one?
- Has the community disabled that feature?
I Can See The Option, But It Does Not Work
This often means the setting is available in the interface, but something behind the scenes is missing.
What to check:
- Is the feature turned on for this community?
- Has the community reached a limit for that feature?
- Are you trying to use a role that only has view access?
- Are you editing the right item?
I Get A Validation Message
This means one of the fields needs attention before C2 can continue.
Common examples:
- a required name was left blank
- a date or time is missing
- a value is typed in the wrong format
- a dropdown choice does not match the rest of the form
What to do:
- Read the message next to the field.
- Fill in the missing information.
- Try again.
A Draft Is Not Showing Where I Expected
Drafts are kept separate from published content.
What to check:
- Are you looking in the draft area rather than the main list?
- Is the item actually saved as a draft?
- Do you have access to view drafts?
An Integration Stopped Working
This usually means something in the integration setup changed.
What to check:
- Is the integration still active?
- Did the role attached to it change?
- Was the community setting for integrations turned off?
- Is the integration trying to do something it is not allowed to do?
A Bulk Change Only Worked For Some People
Some actions affect several people at once, and one bad record can interrupt part of the process.
What to do:
- Find out which people were updated successfully.
- Retry only the ones that failed.
- Check whether one person had missing data or a different setup from the others.
A Simple Troubleshooting Order
- Check whether the person has the right role.
- Check whether the feature is enabled.
- Check whether you are working on a draft or published item.
- Check the field values for typos or missing information.
- Try again after confirming the correct staff profile is active.
When To Ask For Help
Ask another admin or staff lead for help if:
- you are not sure whether a role should be changed
- a feature seems missing entirely
- a draft or integration keeps failing after you have checked the basics
- a bulk change affects the wrong people
